In 2016, I had to overcome a larger role of my private family life as well as continued searching for more personal income. But my continued perseverance towards the Confessions of a Hockey Fanatic blog remain undaunted.So, this year, in light of my continued struggles, I've decided to go minimalist towards my Christmas decorations. But while I do this, I hope you're all enjoying the holiday season, I hope you're enjoying all the hockey season as well!

Merry Christmas from Confessions of a Hockey Fanatic.

It's been a real fun time being a hockey fan this year. There have been really significant gains in popularity and the transitions to a more skilled game. It's made for great hockey to watch and this year the rivalries are as strong as ever in the NHL.I don't know if you have any Christmas hockey traditions or not, but here's my annual Christmas greeting.
I truly hope that in these times, the spirit of human generosity finds you tonight and throughout the next year.

The one only universal force that brings people around the world together more than hockey is the spirit of Christmas. So, this year, the annual Christmas tradition of a video greeting is in the all-inclusive intentions. I hope that other fans might voice themselves more in to finding what kind of content they expect from Confessions of a Hockey Fanatic in 2014.

Even though we don't have much NHL hockey to talk about yet this season, there's still a reason to celebrate in the holidays.

Here's to spending the time in between holidays catching up on a lot of things in the hopper as well as tying to balance a home life with the kind of day job that's been a true challenge of patience.

Blue Jackets Iclusive Holiday Season

Sometimes I get a little upset at the way tradition is falling by the wayside. I see my own beliefs trashed daily and there is no real escape but to fight back. Christmas is a time for giving, love for fellow humankind, and most importantly, happiness with family. I believe these ideals are universal, not to be monopolized by one religious group.

So when other people get depressed or left out during this holiday season, they make up other holidays that are either a mockery of Christmas or imaginary nonsense, I get very very upset.

The NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets have started a promotional event for their game against Los Angeles as "Festivus Night". Although I don't fault the BJ's for their attempt to get people to the games, but could they do something better than put over a stupid idea from a stupid unfuny sit-com? Did Hitchcock or the BJ's air any of their grievances? Was there any feats of strength by Boll? There must be something in the air in that college town that perpetuates such stupidity.

The team redeemed themselves by featuring their mascot in a Santa suit on their Official team web site, so, I guess the team is not all bad. Perhaps, they aren't fully trending towards the alternate counter-cultures in this country. A 12 Games of Christmas package puts the team back over into the "nice" column on Santa's list, but for how long? I would bet that they will be on their best behavior from now on since a playoff spot is top spot on their Christmas wish list.

If you are having a little trouble shopping this year for family and friends, fear not! You still have 3 more days to shop. No Pressure or anything.

All you have to do is check eBay for last minute deals such as this eBay item, but you don't have to place a bid. Just take a look and it is sure to put a smile on your face if you consider yourself friendly to Leafs Nation. I have absolutely no direct affiliation towards this eBay member or this auction page, but I wanted to show you what one TML fan is doing. The price is pretty steep, but I guess they considered all the time spent working on the decorated tree seen at right. $2,937.90(US) stands the current bid!

A hockey themed Christmas is great idea for any hockey fan. When you are passionate about a team like me, sharing a wonderful day with the things and people you enjoy most can really emphasise the meaning of the holidays. Perhaps I should do a Black and Gold Penguins theme next year.
