MONTREAL (AP) -- Hartland de Montarville Molson, a former Canadian senator and longtime owner of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team, has died at age 95.
Molson also headed the family brewing dynasty, but is best known for his association with the National Hockey League franchise. Molson was inducted in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973.
Molson served as a director of the brewery for more than 50 years and held the positions of president, chairman and honorary chairman. He was appointed to the Senate in 1955 and he served 38 years until the age of 86. Born in Montreal in 1907, Molson joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939 and was wounded during in the Battle of Britain.
Awww.. Rest in peace, Mr. Molson. I'll have a bottle of Molson Golden in your honor tonight.
