The Award caps an amazing year for the NHL, both on and off the ice. The League leveraged its big event and digital media strategy to achieve significant revenue growth for the fourth consecutive year, breaking records in TV ratings, merchandise sales and traffic to NHL.com.And that is really the best margin for comparison as to how healthy the leagues can produce and maintain a measurable level of fan interest as well as pop culture relevance.
The critics of the Commissioner and the League is still concerned with the ownership situation and perceived franchise locations. What is it going to take to change some minds and hearts, I don't know.
