When the Stanley Cup was due to arrive in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada for a Tampa Bay Lightning's Head Scout for the Cup, they discovered that the custom made case did not arrive on the baggage claim at the airport.
Did anybody check the bottom of Mario Lemieux's pool?
Apparently, according to this article at Yahoo! Sports the Air Canada -Vancouver Airport deemed that the container holding hockey's richest prize was too heavy for regular baggage transport.
You mean people from Vancouver weren't strong enough lift the Stanley Cup?
Air Canada assured that it was locked up overnight and it was given a special charter flight to get to it's destination across the country.
