2005 All Star Game Canceled

Well, since there's no NHL season, it seems only fair to cancel the 2005 All-Star exhibition in Atlanta this year. Too bad that all of the city has to suffer now that the influx of tourists won't be spending their money in Atlanta. It was supposed to be held in the Phillips Arena on February 12-13.

No make up date has been scheduled, but Atlanta may get their All Star game as early as 2008. The 2006 All Star game has been planned for Glendale Arena in Arizona.

Here's the Leagues apology to the fans and Atlanta, GA:
"We apologize to the fans, to the City of Atlanta, to the Thrashers and to all those who already have devoted so much effort to planning this important hockey celebration," said Frank Supovitz, Group Vice President, NHL Events & Entertainment. "All-Star Weekend is an opportunity to showcase a great sport and a great city. We will reschedule All-Star Weekend for Atlanta as soon as possible and will do everything we can to reward everyone's patient support."
