As if they couldn't learn from the last time, the WHA announced recently that the WHA will attempt to have at least a 6 team league for a 2004-05 run. Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Hull tried in vain to resurrect the old league, but found it difficult to have team ownerships unable to lockdown arenas to play in.
Ricky Smith, the new owner of all things WHA, announced that he's been contacted by NHL players. He also stated that he's "in discussions with potential franchise owners".
Smith then stated that he felt the league must operate with designs for the long term despite what happens with the NHL Lockout. Bobby Hull was signed on as an advisor to the new WHA.
