Crosby to Appear on NBC Late Night TV

For those of you with access to NBC-TV, don't forget to see The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Slotted at 11:30pm EST, Sidney Crosby will make an appearance on the late night interview segment. The Tonight Show is taped in front of a live studio audience in Los Angeles, CA.

No word yet if he will be sporting the "trucker hat" that the Penguins gave him in Ottawa.

I can't decide if I want to watch or not...because:

1. If I read correctly somewhere, we got to survive Rob Schneider and his pimping the latest Deuce Bigelow movie first. I don't hate Mr. Schneider, but that damned film franchise has got to die.

and...

2. While I will always love and support the Penguins, even I'm getting a little tired of all the Crosby hype. Lord, Gretzky never got this much hype when he started out...and IMHO, that might have helped in him becoming the NHL legend he now is. I can't help but worry that all this hype might end up hurting Cros somehow. BUT, I also hope I am wrong there, because if anyone *can* help give hockey the rejuvenation the sport desperately needs, Crosby can.

Right on with the hype. But this is a new age of media. Shark attacks, space shuttle paranoia anyone?

I wish The Crosby Show the best of luck though....

I wish Mr. Crosby luck too. Admittingly, I can easily say that since he is on one of my favorite teams. If he wasn't, well, as long as the team was not the Rangers or Red Wings, I would still wish Cros luck. ;)

I too agree that this is a new age of media, but that doesn't stop me from saying that the sensationalism of it all is ridiculous AND annoying. Hell, even mere summer thunderstorms are being tagged as "severe" in hopes that viewers will tune into the local news and give it those badly needed ratings.

If you go over to Television Without Pity's forums, enter their TV Potluck section, and find the "Little Things TV Stations Do To Annoy You" thread, I'm not the only one annoyed with the over-the-top weather coverage, among other news sensationalism/paranoia things, in the last few years.
