Even though he wasn't asked to go to Turin for the Olympics, it was announced last night that Sid Crosby has accepted an invitation from Team Canada to play in the World Championships in Riga, Latvia May 5-21.
Crosby's previous international hockey experience has him winning the silver medal in the 2004 World Juniors when a costly mistake by his current teammate Marc Andre Fleury had misplayed a clearing pass to an American player who then scored the game winning goal.
Crosby's teammates Brooks Orpik and forwards Ryan Malone and Andy Hilbert have also accepted invitations for Team USA at the World Championships.
