2006 Stanley Cup Playoff Predictions - Round 3

Wow. I was again way off the mark with my predictions again. I only got 1 of the rounds correct. 1 out of 4! Worst of them all, my Stanley Cup favorites bowed out in this past round. So the truly unique Sharks and Senators are going to have to buy a ticket like the rest of us. My total score so far is 4-12 for 33.3%

Western Conference

Anaheim v. Edmonton
Dubbed "Team Canada's Last Chance", is going to have to really show up and shut down the offense that the Ducks have generated. The Oilers blueline was deep enough to keep Thorton and Co. enough out of their way. Now, could they do it to Selane, who is automatic in goal scoring in tournament series like this? I like the Ducks chances because they are just riding a hot goaltender.
Prediction: Oilers in 6

Eastern Conference

Buffalo v. Carolina
Okay, so Buffalo is playing over their heads too with a hot goaltender. Can you name more than three players on that team? Briere, Drury... then who else? Carolina was built to support their budding superstar Eric Staal with key veterans Recchi and Weight. Look for the Hurricanes to get really hungry because they are so close they could probably taste it. Buffalo will only go far as their rookie American goaltender, Ryan Miller, can take them.
Prediction: Hurricanes in 7
