Superstar Sidney Crosby will be soon featured on a new set of advertisements to promote the 2006-07 NHL hockey season. Much like the previous "episodes" featuring Peter Forsberg and Jonathan Cheechoo of the Flyers and Sharks respectively, Crosby shows off his acting skills in a commercial that some may consider cheesy. Along with Crosby, Goalie Marty Turco of the Dallas Stars has a short commercial about the same subject. You can find the new spots on NHL.com. But it is also set to be shown on Versus, TSN and local affiliates first and later on CBC, HDNet and the NHL Network. Since the video is not on any popular internet video sharing websites yet, I will have to describe the scene to you all.
The scene starts with a seemingly normal white couple with the male sloppily getting out of bed. The male character waddles his way to the shower where the woman is in the background at the sink. When the man shoves back the curtains, he is greeted with a "Hey!" and a smile from Sidney Crosby in full uniform complete with stick. The man looks back at his wife and asks "Honey, why is Sidney Crosby in our shower?" Acting as if the situation isn't anything out of the ordinary, the wife responds "Oh, he's just here to remind you that the NHL season started". After the new season logo is used, Sid is seen flushing the commode while the unnamed man is in the shower. Sidney leaves off screen with a mischievous grin on his face.
