Once again, it's the annual tradition of The Pond Ice Arena Classic Hockey Tournament where young kids who travel from all around the area compete in the age-comparable groupings. I've been a fan of their graphic arts artwork, anticipating just what this year's design is going to look like.

It's the time of year again where many school kids (mites) are out of their curriculum routine and on to the holiday vacation. Those who are serious about their hockey training take part in the annual tradition of traveling to Thanksgiving tournaments all over the States.

My favorite tournament in the States has got to be featured here as one of the oldest traditions on Confessions of a Hockey Fanatic. Sharing the creative logo of the The Pond Arena in Delaware, I hope that it fits in the holiday and the hockey theme at the same time. Lets take a look at this year's logo:

The logo is still a cartoon anthropomorphic, but with a more detailed facial and neck features. But the pose is almost like the one they used last year. The colors are still in the familiar autumn shades. The font is different in that they put the year off into the corner, but used the text title to focus on. The leaves are a nice touch.

Who knows,.. maybe after years and years of promoting this thing, I'd actually play in it someday.

Thanksgiving Holiday Tournaments 2013

It's that time of year again where Americans settle in for some turkey and pie and be thankful for each other and our prosperity (no matter what level). But for other families it means that hockey moms sometimes dread the long weekend of hauling off to some tournament while the kids are off of school. The Pond Ice Rink in Newark, Deleware, USA has been doing many of Thanksgiving tournaments for pee-wee teams from all over for many years.

Since considering myself a graphic arts design enthusiast, I will share this years logo with you as I have done with the yearly tradition.

This year's logo is a little different from the usual sharpness and attention to detail like the other ones have. It has a faded look, but still would look great on any brown, orange, or burnt sienna colored t-shirt. The anthropomorphic turkey is still cartoon looking compared to thee years ago which was a more formal distinguished look.
Good luck to all those teams participating in the week's festivities. - Be respectful to your teammates as well as your opponents.

Happy Thanksgiving Tradition Continues

It's always great to share and indulge in your interests on special holidays. I am thankful that I still have people that continue to keep up on my blog through facebook and twitter.

Many years ago, I started the tradition of posting up the logos for the The Pond Ice Arena in Newark, Delaware. They always debut a new cool looking logo to match up with their traditional hockey tournament played every year during United States thanksgiving. Being an enthusiast for logos designs and other related artwork, I've featured their work here on this page.

This year the Pond's thanksgiving logo has a real throwback style to it by using a lot of tan and kachi brown colors. You don't really see much of the actual turkey bird in this logo, but it is still a fixture feature. It looks like they put a lot of thought and hard work into this one.

Thanksgiving for Hockey !!

Once again, it is the traditional gathering of people everywhere in America to take the time and be mindful of the appreciation to the good things and people around us. So, along with the standard answers that I am thankful every year (i.e. family, job, talents, etc...) I am also glad that I have a passion for a great game that has opened many opportunities to me to meet many other fans, players, and cities.

So, why not continue to include hockey into many important celebrations and traditions year after year? A long while back, I highlighted a US Thanksgiving tournament that did just that! The Pond Ice Arena in Newark, DE holds an annual tradition of hockey tournaments on the US Thanksgiving day. I look forward to it every year just to critique the logo that they design for it every year. The 2010 version (seen here) is a different choice for the tournament. It looks formal and dignified compared to the previous years of starring a cartoon anthropomorphic bird. Much like the merchandising of a lot of the professional hockey leagues, if this yearly event were a t-shirt, I would want to collect one every year!

So, I would have to congratulate all the kids and parents who braved the cold weather and sacrificed a little bit of time on the holidays! May the most deserving teams win and I will most certainly keep a patient and keen eye on what next year's tournament logo will look like!

Thanksgiving Hockey Traditions

It is that time of year again where we Americans sit around the table with family and close friends and indulge in the finely cooked extravagant meals. Ironic that the bird that was stuffed eventually makes us all feel stuffed!

But what else do we have to be thankful for? Hockey! I have decided that this will become another annual post by sharing with my readers how thankful I am that you all have found your way over here. It started with a little web surfing one day wondering if there was ever a Thanksgiving hockey tournament being played over the holidays. Sure enough, the Delaware ice rink does a yearly kids tournament and features a well designed logo for the event. Check out this years logo at the bottom!

I am also thankful for the Fadoo.ca friends and FAN 590 fans who have favorably helped provide for a much larger audience. I couldn't have done it without you guys!

Thanksgiving and Hockey Traditions

While our good neighbors to the north may have already celebrated their Thanksgiving holiday, a lot of more militant hockey moms and dads today here in America will be taking advantage of the time their kids will be out of school and cheering them on the ice. Surely, the majority of Americans are feasting on back-to-back football games, but since hockey is my fanatical passion, I wanted to share with you a couple of nice logos that I found through random chance internet searches.
I don't have any association with this rink out in Delaware, but as I study logos and graphic arts, I really enjoyed these logos. I hope you do too. Why not relate a Thanksgiving Hockey story at the bottom in the comments section?
