Irbe Gets Demoted

This just goes to show you that not always the squeaky wheel get the grease.

Last season, Latvian-born goaltender Arturs Irbe complained about his diminished role on the then defending Eastern Division champ Carolina Hurricanes. The team responded by demoting him to the AHL to give him playing time with the Lowell Lock Monsters.

Since the team picked up free agent Jamie Storr, Irbe became a man without a country. NHL Network and Fox Sports Net report that Irbe was again sent to the ECHL for the "legendary" Johnstown Chiefs.
