Congratulations to the Philadelphia Phantoms for winning Hockey's coveted, no, desirable, still no,... umm.. does anybody really care about the award?
Okay, apparently enough of the eastern PA fans cared enough to set a new AHL playoff attendance record at 20,103.
Built as one of the American Hockey Leagues established teams and supplemented with orphaned NHL talent, the Philadelphia Phantoms coasted through the regular season as one of the top teams.
Led by blue chip prospects Patrick Sharp and Jeff Carter the Phantoms swept the Chicago Wolves, a strong Thrashers farm team. Even with the help of young stars Jay Bouwmeester and Stephen Weiss, the Wolves couldn't solve the tourney's MVP Phantoms goalie Antero Niittymaki. Niittymaki is only 25 years old and the 4th consecutive goalie to win the award.

Hooray! A philly team finally WINS SOMETHING. I am so happy tonight
I don't understand why Philly fans think Patrick Sharp's and Jeff Carter's contributions to this series were significant. The hero was Nittymaki. Period.
