The Penguins and Leafs were locked into a 0-0 game when the electricity in the Mellon Arena, the Penguins outdated home, went out and caused a long delay late in the 2nd period. The Leafs were trying to put together a 5 minute power play off of a major penalty. But the Penguins staved it off holding the 2nd best power play team to zero shots on goal.
During the time spent in darkness, many of the Leafs Nation decided to pack it up and head back home. The Penguins faithful decided to turn the moment into a spontaneous rally chanting "NEW ARENA!!!"
(KDKA) PITTSBURGH Thousands of hockey fans were sitting in the dark after a pair of power outages halted Sunday's Penguins' game.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are facing off against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The first outage happened around 8:49 pm. and lasted about 19 minutes.
A Duquesne Light spokesman said the first outage was due to a problem with an underground cable that feeds the area.
The second outage happened shortly after, around 9:11 p.m.
However the second outage is still under investigation.
A penalty shot goal scored by Chad Kilger put the Leafs ahead 1-0 and that would be all that they needed for the win.
15,174 was the recorded attendance.

A new arena?
How about fans attending games at the current arena?
According to TSN, the second outage is being blamed on a small fire. Was your poor building attempting to put itself out of misery, once and for all?
Fans are attending games at the current arena. Last I heard we have around a 95% average attendance this season.
