St. Patty's Day Alternates

Well, it's that time of year again where everyone decides to wear a little green and feel a little camaraderie with their fellow man/woman. Of course, the hockey fans know how to celebrate March 17th.

Lots of teams especially in the minor leagues have used alternate uniforms to commemorate the day in the past. One such team is the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins who were started up and coached at one time by Glen Patrick. (Jonathan Filewich is sporting this year's model at right) They've gone with the 3rd jersey special for games on March 17th. But I've heard of teams auctioning off their one of a kind jersey's to lucky fans attending the games.

Well, that's all I've got to say here about hockey on St. Patrick's Day. I hope that you all have celebrated responsibly and chosen not to partake in the Shamrock Shakes too much!

At least those St. Patty's Day alternate jerseys are tasteful looking. I will never forget when some teams decided to have cowboy, tuxedo, and pink alternates. It's great when such jerseys raise money for charity, but it doesn't stop me from saying that most of them are buttugly...
