AHL Playoffs - Championship Round

Tonight, the Calder Cup Finals begin as the Chicago Wolves take on the Philadelphia Phantoms in a best of 7 series. It's been a long but relatively quiet road to the finals. I think I'm the only blogger talking about the AHL. While many still hope that the NHL will come to their senses, the AHL has provided a wealth of hockey talent and entertainment this season. Perhaps there isn't any teams in big enough markets to care about the American Hockey League.

Notes: Rookie sensation Jeff Carter proves to be a future star for the Flyers as he has posted 12 goals and 7 assists in the playoffs. The Wolves look to win their second Calder Cup in 3 years. Since the IHL-AHL merger, only IHL teams have won the Calder Cup. Chicago Wolves were one of those teams picked up in the new AHL.
